The comments of author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie caused a major outcry in the trans community, and this piece gives a lot of the history of why this is such a sensitive topic. While more intersectional and inclusive narratives of feminism are gradually becoming the norm, there is a 50+ year history (that still continues to this day) of feminists who exclude, delegitimize, and other transwomen.
