i know that rose said that gems are made with a programming, already knowing what they’re here for, but everything about her behaviour contradicts that statement. she didn’t know what yellow was doing or that creating gems implied taking life away from planets, not generating something brand new. she knows things, but they are too generic, as if she had observed someone else do it and learned from it, as if she was mirroring someone else.
it’s a behaviour that she reiterates with garnet and bismuth and pearl, and the crystal gems. she continuously takes example from them and it’s open to new points of view, and even absorbs them with ease. she’s naturally curious.
and that makes me think why? why does she have to learn instead of having innate knowledge about her purpose much like the other gems?
does this imply she was not made to be a colonizer? why she’s there for?
she seems so useless on homeworld, and god knows how long she was colony-less back there. she looks like she wanted to do what the yellow and blue did but didn’t understand why they couldn’t trust her with something she should be naturally good at.
yellow is literally waiting for her to be ready. and it’s like, what? ready? is this implying that there’s a time when she’s not? and it’s natural? is this suggesting it’s a normal diamond thing phase or what? but then again gems don’t grow up? ……what’s happening here..?
i have a strong feeling that SOME HOW, SOME WAY, we’ll see rose/pink AND steven at the same time again, but for realsies. Either in dreams or some such, or some other way. I don’t know how or why precisely, but i feel it’s a very strong possibility!!

I’m doing a SU rewatch, got to We Need To Talk, and started wondering what happened to poof Pearl between Bitchy Legwarmers Pearl ™ and s1 Pearl. She’s talented and careful, she doesn’t poof easily.
And sure we could totally get angsty about this, it’s Pearl and this is the time period between “Rose getting serious about Greg” and “Steven”
But also, the one time we saw Pearl getting poofed it was in a training accident because she turned around to lecture and got stabbed by her own holographic robo-double.
Basically it’s a complete tossup of anywhere from “got unhealthily reckless and careless trying to get Rose’s attention on a mission and was traumatically killed” to “absentmindedly ate an olive and was so horrified she straight-up died”

hm that was the most rushed episode of steven universe i’ve seen yet. that could have been 5 episodes. that could have been a half season of blue and yellow seeing what earth is like. i suspect we’re seeing what was being made the first time CN started fucking with the schedule and cut the seasons in half
