I don’t really feel I’m qualified to say if something is ableist or not, but I do feel the babadook is more about ableism, or at the very least not just about depression.

oh so you mean, the movie is conscious about the ableism it’s portraying? bc yeah, if it’s showing how bad ableism is that’d be great. but i’m also worried bc like, if it’s been 3 years since the movie came out, and now with the big meme that he’s gay, no one even mentioned to me an autistic kid gets mistreated in the film.

I haven’t seen it and i don’t think i can bc of trauma about, also once being an autistic kid who my family wanted to Make Normal.

if anyone can offer more insight to how the babadook treats autism i’m all ears!
