you know what? Yeah! Absolutely! Leave your uwus at the door
Because there isnât one masculinity or femininity to measure up against.
Being autistic doesnât mean that my expression or experience of gender doesnât make me the peer of allistic people who share my gender.
Black womanhood doesnât âconformâ to white womanhood but we donât say all black women are gnc. We have decades of experience, growth, community building, dedicated to developing multiple expressions of gender that are not a âhow much do you have in common with or look like Melania Trumpâ checklist.
Itâs not about âyouâre only something if you think you are in your imaagginnaatiioonnnnââ itâs about that itâs a horrific idea to say that the only true representative of somebodyâs gender is the most privileged person. That if youâre not a straight, white, neurotypical, thin, reproductive femme cis woman, or a straight, white, neurotypical, fit, reproductive masc cis man, youâre somehow ânot conformingâ to the image of those people. That you canât âdoâ gender as well as them.Â
It gets into the idea that it is the âfunctionâ of any person with gender to be as much like those people as possible. And it implies that if you are âdefectiveâ in that respect in any way and experience discrimination that is intersectional with gender for any reason, youâre in the same boat with nonbinary and trans people. Which cis people are not.
also like itâs,,, gender expression. itâs something u consciously relate to. itâs certainly not innate. unless ur argument is that u think people destined to be GNC are decided at birth, gender conformity & non-conformity is a personal opt-in process.
like. if youâre against idpol or into materialist analysis or something, u need to come up w a better framework than deciding gender must be unchanging and innate (especially day to day gender expression of all things like, do u hear yourself? itâs gender fucking conformity,, itâs very literally a choice?)
