Anyways everyone should watch The Good Place

[Image description: Photos of a guy with an impressive moustache and a guy in a baseball cap yelling at each other. I don’t recognise them and so cannot be more specific.

Moustache: When Chidi tells that guy the truth about his boots to remain ethical, he’s breaking the most foundational aspect of Kantian ethics by using him as a means to an end.

Baseball Cap: He wasn’t a good person, that’s the whole point.

Moustache: It’s a huge oversight. Why make him follow Kant at all? He represents an important milestone in ethical reasoning, sure, but the discipline has moved past him. The rigidity of the categorical imperative is openly mocked.

Baseball Cap: *throwing a chair* Chidi’s morality is a defence mechanism. Modern philosophies have more space for nuance, but Chidi’s attraction to the cut and dry rigid world of Kant is a manifestation of his anxiety. Kant represents the certainty he craves.

Moustache: I think I changed my own mind making this meme, this is a very well-written show.]
