garashirs:

everyone in fantasy novels is horny on main for elves and itโ€™s honestly a travesty like why the hell would you want to marry an elf youโ€™ll just spend the rest of your days growing old in the woods with a bunch of immortal bastards whose heads are so far up their asses they think singing week-long ballads is prime entertainment and say shit like โ€œthouโ€ and โ€œbeseechโ€ unironically y’all should be hooking up with dwarves who 1. actually know how to throw the fuck down and let loose at a party 2. will literally shower you in diamond dust and gold they mined and crafted with their bare hands and 3. can sling you over their shoulder like a sack of potatoes with their huge muscular arms developed from hours of said mining and crafting. thereโ€™s literally no contest.

my ideal version of new who canon goes something like:

the doctor never regrets ending the time war the way it did. not once. sure theyโ€™re remorseful, often guilty that they were the one who had to do it, definitely survivorโ€™s guilt and a lot of the time they wish they could have been blown up right there with Gallifrey and the rest of the time lords. but given the chance to have a do over, theyโ€™d do it again. and again. they did what had to be done, and thatโ€™s the only way they cope with it.

(part of this might be informed by what happened to jamie and zoe, and the doctor never being able to forgive them for it)

the doctor never meddles with the time war, never even thinks about bringing Gallifrey back. eventually they come back anyway, which leads to Heaven Sent, which leads nicely into the doctor blowing up Gallifrey to hell all over again. Thereโ€™s no part 2 to my favourite episode, no bargaining to bring Clara back from the dead, no weird power games with Rassilon, and absolutely no reveal about the Hybrid, no awfully long conversations with ashildr at the end of time, no memory wipe games. The Doctor just blows it the fuck away, which, tbh, is the only way season 9 should have ended. that finale is such a goddamn asspull. itโ€™s like they expected everyone to forget that bringing the time lords back was 10โ€™s worst fear, and the entire climax to their era was very literally Sending Them Back To Hell.

[gif 1: the 12th doctor opens a door to reveal a stone wall.

gif 2: his face, very annoyed at what he found. he turns to see a creature behind him.

gif 3: heโ€™s looking around. โ€œUhโ€ฆ oh, myโ€ฆ erโ€ฆ umโ€ฆโ€

gif 4: Staring the creature face on. โ€œI canโ€™t see a way out of thisโ€

gif 5: Heโ€™s looking at a creature wearing a veil, slowly shuffling toward him. โ€œIโ€™ve finally run out of corridor.โ€

gif 6: โ€œThereโ€™s a life summed up.โ€

gif 7: a close up of the veiled creature, it still doesnโ€™t have a face. โ€œOh, now this is new.โ€

gif 8: โ€œIโ€™m scared. I just realised that. Iโ€™m actually scared of dying!โ€]

Iโ€™m seeing people say that Twelve and Billโ€™s relationship reminds them of Ten and Donna, and I kinda see what they mean, but like

Seven and Ace

we all saw Ace vibes (and Donna ones) in that initial clip, and now weโ€™ve really got it, because itโ€™s not a best mates friendship as much as a mentoring friendship, the Doctor teaching the companion as they go

plus, theย โ€œProfessorโ€ thing, except in Twelveโ€™s case it was more literal and not just a randomly picked up title the companion uses

plus we know Ace also loved ladies

am I saying Bill should get to beat up a Dalek with a baseball bat? that wasnโ€™t where I was going with this but yes actually she definitely should
