Little message of hope for those afraid to come out to their friends.
My core friend group: cis bros.
Dude bro cis bros. Chicks. Drinks. Games. Gym. Those were my pals.Β
So, as youβd imagine, I was a little afraid to come out to my boys, and left it atΒ βI might be gay or something, idk.β
When I bit the bullet and came out as a trans chick, none of them were surprised.
In terms ofΒ βadjustmentβ, there wasnβt any. And each one of them worked hard to understand, brush up on terms, learn more about transgender things, and even went as far to chastise each other forΒ βa weak pronoun game.β
They complimented me when I felt down, encouraged me to try new things, and the only way my friendship with them changed is that our bonds grew even stronger.
There is no perfect formula for coming out, and no matter what your relationships or circumstances, youβre well in your rights to feel a little nervous.
Itβs perfectly okay, but the ones you love can truly surprise you in amazing ways you never thought were possible.
Best wishes to any of you waiting for your moment. Love, Tina
When one Tennessee couple went to the Memphis Zoo on Friday, they each had a secret plan to pop the question.
The Memphis Zoo is a special place for Becky McCabe and Jessa Gillaspie, because theyβd gone their on their first date. When they went there with friends on Friday, McCabe had arranged for one of their pals to videotape the proposal.
The couple, surrounded by their friends, posed for a photo in front of the zoo. As one friend took their picture, another friend began filming in anticipation of the big moment.
McCabe held a ring behind her back and told Gillapsie she loved her. Then, dropping to one knee, she opened the ring box and asked βWill you marry me?β The whole time, Gillaspie cried tears of joy.
But instead of answering the question, Gillaspie turned around, grabbed her purse, and started digging around for something.
βOh my God!β she exclaimed.Β Gillaspie pulled out another ring box.
McCabe, still down on one knee, immediately began laughing. Gillaspie had planned all along to propose to her, too.
Gillaspie opened the ring box and showed McCabe the ring she had planned to propose with β before McCabe beat her to the punch.
I didnβt see this on here and it was so cute I thought Iβd share it.Β
