backlash against allo- and monosexual relies on the belief that /everything/ is a privilege-oppression dynamic. not everything is that clear-cut. the dynamic between binary trans ppl and nb ppl, for instance. or that ppl who are physically disabled and ppl who are neurodivergent both face ableism – but in v different ways, and can be ableist towards each other. allo just means “not a-spec.” monosexual just means “not attracted to multiple genders.” they dont imply a privilege-oppression dynamic.

I’m surprised that no one has pointed this out yet, but there are some really clever similarities to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in the recent Steven Universe episodes!!!

  •  A protagonist with magical tears.
  • Two Queens that obstruct the protagonist’s journey.
  • The protag also goes on a trial by the way….
  • A character who is… running late, to say the least?
  • Twins
  • A giant blue catapiller that gives wisdom and support???

Overall, I think it’s really cool, since Steven’s experience on Homeworld is a lot like Alice’s trip to Wonderland.  I wonder what else we’ll see in future episodes!
