doctor who | heaven sent (november 28, 2015)
“Doctor. You are not the only person who ever lost someone. It’s the story of everybody. Get over it. Beat it. Break free.
Doctor, it’s time. Get up, off your arse.
And win.”
tbh the one thing I can’t forgive Moffat for is how dirty he did the Doctor finally getting to gallifrey
I mean we had, what, 7 series of the Doctor’s agony as being the Last Timelord? 7 series of ptsd from the Time War, of him being ‘the only one left’? I know in Classic Who he didn’t have the Best Relationship especially with the ones in charge, but over seven seasons of New Who it became pretty clear that he was in agony over the destruction of his entire planet and people and being the sole survivor.
And then it turned out Gallifrey was alive! And he was going to take the ‘Long way home’! I was prepared for a series worth of the doctor chasing leads to find his people
And then…that didn’t happen? There was the whole Christmas episode which felt really rushed? And then finally finally we see the Doctor on galifrey and yes having everyone side with him and call it his planet was nice but…that was it? Most of the gallifreyans didn’t even really talk to him? And then he immediately left to go save Clara?
Which, I get, he’s the doctor he wants to save his friends. But he’s home? The lonely wanderer has got his planet and people back and he only stays for twenty minutes??? and doesn’t go back??
It just all felt like such a let down
and it felt the same with River Song tbh. When it was revealed she was Melody and the Doctor was all ‘I’m going to get your baby back!’ and the episode ended like the whole new series was going to be about searching the universe for Melody Pond, hunting down those who took her, and bringing her home
and then in the next episode it was like ‘Oh! here I am! You found me! bye!’
to me, Moffat set up these huge story arcs which could be amazing and interesting and edge-of-your-seat-cannot-wait-to-next-week-oh-my-god-we-were-so-close!! but then he just….solves them an episode later and moves on. And you are left with such a let down
What if the 12th Doctor ended up being played by Tom Hiddleston.
I think I would like that.
