Headcanon time!

The Doctor was named as “Doctor Who” all the time in comics from the 1960s (that feature his 1st and 2nd incarnations). So I have a headcanon that when he was young and on the run from the Time Lords, travelling throughout the universe for the very first time, the Doctor sometimes called himself “Doctor Who” because he thought it sounded mysterious and cool. It made him feel like he was some action hero or dashing explorer.

Eventually he changed his mind and thought ‘actually, Doctor Who sounds a little silly. I think I’ll just stick with The Doctor’. Every so often he makes a joke about being “Doctor Who”, but mostly he’s a little embarrassed that he went around calling himself that unironically. That’s why, most of the time, he gets really shifty when someone asks him "Doctor Who?“; he’s mortified that someone’s going to find out.

So I posted this more than a year and a half before it was officially made canon in ‘World Enough and Time’. What I didn’t predict (but should have) is that Twelve is the nerd who no longer cares and will call himself “Dr Who” because he can admit he still likes it.

even if bill survives thru next week, the fact that this cliffhanger happened will feel like a stab in the face as if moffats laughing at young black/gay people so used to seeing themselves die on tv they expected it so when she dies its a “cool plot twist” fuck off

I blame it on the obsession with the New Series on companions having to die. I mean, only Martha was back on Earth with her memories intact. On the other hand, that was the norm for the Classic Series, and not the exception.

none of the new companions have died, only arguably amy and rory but that was of old age after having lived their lives so ???

They didn’t go back to their normal lives, that’s what I meant.

well yh i was talking abt them dying horrifically so

it’s never really been addressed how John Simm’s master traumatised Martha Jones’ entire family and made them Actual Slaves, and if this was a show that actually had continuity and it should really have the Doctor and Bill actually sit down to have a serious talk about racism if we’re going to have this whole “is Missy turning good?” question over our heads

World Enough and Time was fucking great but they had better find a way to save Bill or I will kill Steven Moffat with my own two hands

Nooo because then her death will be meaningless! Don’t get me wrong I adore Bill but I think killing her would be really tragic and make for great storytelling. All of new-who companions have lived in some way, and it would make a nice change. It would also make the cybermen seem weak if they could bring her back and I don’t want that.

BORING, didn’t ask

we have enough dead lesbians in fiction, lets not add another one

bro did you just put the Cybermen’s Cool Robot Points over lesbians. like the actual real life lesbians who watch the show too?

also, black lesbians staying alive in media is always, always going to be more meaningful than killing them off. griefporn is not as meaningful as representation.
