Tumblr is just a game of people trying to “outwoke” each other and feeling slightly threatened when someone knows more than them

I say this like a joke but honestly you guys really do have this problem where being corrected and getting a gentle criticism is like the worst thing on earth to you. You people demand for growth and self-realization but never apply it yourselves.

Most of y’all can’t even apologize. You just get angry and either redirect the conversation or deny that you were even wrong in the first place. It’s downright childish how you y’all will hassle people over mistakes but refuse to listen anyone worthwhile who isn’t trying to enable you.

It ain’t healthy. Social Justice is all about retaining and gaining knowledge and evolving, you fuck up, you learn, you grow. Repeat.

It’s not losing your shit and getting vindictive because someone corrected you.

its cute to build an identity around being caring or sensitive or introverted or thoughtful… all very understandable espec. when the world is trying to desensitise u on a daily basis

but sometimes i feel like its more worthwhile just to think abt ur actions without being like “I am always this kind of type of person”

instead of saying “i am caring” you can just take a second and care. or if you’re like, i’m sensitive, then take a second and feel.

it seems like a bit of an ego trap to get attached to those labels about yourself, like saying “im a really sensitive person” and thinking that makes it okay when you do something insensitive because its a once off // thinking other people aren’t as sensitive. people might not always be that sensitive but that’s them in that moment. give room for them to change. one day everybody might be able to express their sensitivity

i get though that lots of people feel more secure when they think about things they are, we all want to think good things about ourselves, and that’s okay ❤ i kinda want to come to everything like every person with the openness that they can completely change if they want. like thinking about personalities as really just habits and choices. you can value something like kindness, but valuing it doesn’t make it an inherent part of you. you need to do it. some people’s habits complement each other, but it’s nice when people’s values complement each other, cos that’s when you know that you’re both trying to orient your actions around the same things

two essential skills for artists

“good enough” and “fuck it”

“good enough” is when you are working on something and are happy with most of it but can live with a few imperfections, useful when needing to move on from sketch to inking/coloring or what have you.

“fuck it” is when you absolutely hate what you’re doing every step of the way but you post it anyways, very useful during art blocks.

both are useful to help you move on and not obsess over making it perfect, because art is anything but perfect, even photo realistic artists probably see imperfections that someone else might not catch

these can also be applied to other things in life

Giving homeless people MONEY instead of FOOD can save their lives this winter, shelters cost money, being able to sit in McDonald’s and nurse a coke for a couple hours to warm up costs money, often accessing public toilets (whether it’s to use them, wash up or just to be out of the wind) costs money.

Just give homeless people cash, just do it, no excuses, no whining about “enabling their drug habits”, if you have money to spare, give it and possibly save someone from literally freezing to death.

#even if they spend it on drugs so fucking what #we all have to cope with existence somehow

i used to be one of those “keep stale crackers on hand to give instead of money because if they’re actually hungry theyll take it and if they dont want it theyre faking” people. the thing that killed off the last of that in me was a line in a tumblr post like this one: “people know what they need most, and if what they need most right now is a slight reprieve from their withdrawal symptoms, then who are you to judge them for that?”

new ebbits! new site!

this is probably my favourite comic of all time jsyk

can someone explain this to me?

Sure thing! For convenience I’ll refer to the guy with his arms in his pockets as SG (shorter guy) and the one on the computer as TG (taller guy).

In the first panel, SG sees TG playing on the computer and is disappointed. SG puts a lot of value in the idea of “making things,” specifically “art,” and thinks TG is just wasting their time

So he asks them if they wouldn’t rather be “making something” instead of just playing games and listening to music, implying that TG isn’t doing anything worthwhile or creative with their time

But TG replies that “interpreting is generative,” meaning that even if they spend their time just doing fun stuff, the mere act of enjoying something is creating an experience and an interpretation. Talking about something, dancing to music or sharing a piece of art with your friends IS “making something,” and each of those can be worthwhile and artistic.

SG leaves, complaining he “can’t be an auteur of [interpretation].” Auteur is a movie term that refers to a filmmaker with artistic control and vision enough to be considered essentially the singular creator of the resulting work of art. Turns out, SG doesn’t just want to “make things,” he wants to make things he and others see as “important.” He wants to make art not for the sake of art, but for the sake of being recognized and praised for his art.

This comic really speaks to elitism within the artistic community, the idea that art needs to meet certain standards to be considered art. SG’s viewpoint is really traditionalist, that art need to be “approved” and validated in order to be considered “really art;” while TG recognizes that art can be as little as just talking about what you love.

TLDR: Art is for everyone, not just some sort of social “artistic elite.”

ooh i love the explanation

Rebloging for that in depth and not even a little snarky explanation. 10/10

Gonna be real I was the shorter guy until reading this and i feel kinda like an asshole ut good job OP for changin my mind

I just heard this woman say “you procrastinate because you are afraid of rejection. It’s a defense mechanism, you are trying to protect yourself without even trying.” and I think I just realized what was wrong with me.

Yep, this is a very, very common reason for procrastinating.  It’s also why procrastination, even though it’s often associated with laziness, is a fairly common trait in a lot of people with anxiety and perfectionism issues.

You know, with the rise of the “bottom/vers/top” memes in the lgbt community, I want to bring up something…

bakuryo:

Minors, please be careful. I can’t stop you from using these memes. No one can. But be aware of who you use them with. If you make a joke of the like with an adult, and they reply pushing the “joke” further – it’s a big red flag. If an adult uses these memes with you, run. If possible, try avoiding using them with adults too – it’s not your responsibility, it’s true. But better safe than sorry.

This also stands between minors of different ages – a 13 year old is a minor. So is a 17 year old. Is it okay for a 17 year old to tell a 13 year old that they’ll be their (insert x/y/z alignement)? Absolutely not. Be mindful of your age gaps, be mindful of the differences in maturity between you. And stay safe.

This is okay to reblog, and I highly encourage it, especially from adults.
