On one hand there might be a higher-than-average percentage of autistic people among trans women, on the other hand Iโ€™m not thrilled for neurotypical cis people researching any correlation that might exist before they learn to discuss autistic and trans people in a way that isnโ€™t the most dehumanising shit imaginable. In my opinion.

I really hate it when parents of autistic kids use phrases like โ€œI know theyโ€™re in there.โ€ Bitch theyโ€™re right in front of you! You havenโ€™t lost them! Theyโ€™re not locked away like a final boss in a video game!! This is your child As Is! Love them for who they are not what you wish they would be! Fuck!

OP you are right and you should say it ๐Ÿ‘

People on Tumblr:ย Bullyingย autistic people is wrong. I donโ€™t know who would do something like this.

Also People on Tumblr:

*makes fun of users who donโ€™t recognise fake/prank news articles*

*makes fun of users who canโ€™t spot sarcasm in writing*

*makes fun of users with โ€˜cringeyโ€™ interests*

*makes fun of users who write or phrase things oddly*

*makes fun of users who treat jokes seriously*

*makes fun users who post obsessively about the same thing*

*makes fun of users for the exact same autistic traits autistic people are bullied for offline all the time*

Enough with the โ€œAutistic with a hidden talentโ€ stereotype.

I get why Allistics thought it was a good idea. Maybe they meant to say โ€œjust because youโ€™re Autistic doesnโ€™t mean you canโ€™t have skills, look at Rain Man!โ€

Iโ€™m sorry, as an Autistic person I have license to say that it completely backfired.

Youโ€™re not saying โ€œAutistic people can be smartโ€ any more.

Youโ€™re saying โ€œAutistic people owe us some sort of super talented to exist.โ€

Autistic people do not need to be geniuses to be valid (and Iโ€™m a top student myself, but I can still see the problem in this). Autistic people do not need to prove themselves to be extraordinary, or โ€œwork twice as hardโ€ to get basic respect.

Autistic people do not need to be extremely talented in order to be appreciated, pass it on.

Weird behavior is not okay because weโ€™re autistic! Itโ€™s okay because itโ€™s harmless! If an NT wants to flap or carry a teddy bear or wear ear defenders, they can have at! We need to break down the system that suggests harmless deviation from the norm is wrong, not excuse specific deviations!

[Image description: Drake meme. Top text reads:ย โ€œitโ€™s okay because theyโ€™re autistic.โ€ Bottom text reads:ย โ€œItโ€™s okay because it doesnโ€™t hurt anyone. Also, unrelated, theyโ€™re autistic.โ€]
