faerie-daze:

two essential skills for artists

โ€œgood enoughโ€ andย โ€œfuck itโ€

โ€œgood enoughโ€ is when you are working on something and are happy with most of it but can live with a few imperfections, useful when needing to move on from sketch to inking/coloring or what have you.

โ€œfuck itโ€ is when you absolutely hate what youโ€™re doing every step of the way but you post it anyways, very useful during art blocks.

both are useful to help you move on and not obsess over making it perfect, because art is anything but perfect, even photo realistic artists probably see imperfections that someone else might not catchย

these can also be applied to other things in life

Stop thinking: โ€œIโ€™m not talented enough to execute this concept.โ€
Start thinking: โ€œIโ€™m going to be a stronger artist when Iโ€™ve finished this piece.โ€

This is a fixed mindset vs. a growth mindset.

Your abilities are not static, and any challenges you have, anything that turns out different from how you imagined, is not evidence of failure, just a struggle towards improvement.

This made me cry I needed this so bad right now. Thank you.
