So people make fun of the Kirk shirt rip in Shore Leave because it is so blatantly independent of the fight with Finnegan
See:
then:
But what most people fail to acknowledge is that the Shore Leave planet is there to suddenly create things you are thinking about, rather than obey the laws of reality.
Which means that Kirk was thinking about fighting Finnegan, so he appeared:
Which also means, in the middle of the fight, Kirk must have thought: āMan, it would be so cool if my shirt ripped off right now,ā leading to the inevitable:
So since weāre fairly certain now exactly what Kirk thinks about during fights, we can continue to laugh at his shirt rip in Shore Leave, but make sure itās for the right reasons: not so much continuity error, more actually being Exactly In Character.
Reminder that anti mogai backlash was started by truscum (because mogai was made initially for the sake of nb people) and continued mockery of it is nbphobic by extension regardless of why they do it
altegender: pronouncedĀ āalt-eh-genderā derived from shortening the phraseĀ āalternate existence.ā It is a xenogender that feels as though itās in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.Ā
It can work as a prefix with other words to form more specific genders, like altegirl, alteboy, altenby, altexirl, altexoy, and altefluid.
altegirl/altewoman:
someone whoās gender feels like it is female, but as though itāsĀ
in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
alteboy/alteman:
someone whoās gender feels like it is male, but as though itās Ā in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
altenby:
someone whoās gender feels like it is nonbinary/genderqueer, but as though itās Ā in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
altexirl:
someone whoās gender feels like it is
in some way nonbinary girl or nonbinary girl-adjacent, but as though itās Ā in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
altexoy:
someone whoās gender feels like it is in some way a nonbinary boy or nonbinary boy-adjacent, but as though itās Ā in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
altefluid:
someone whoās gender feels like it is fluid, but as though itās Ā in a parallel dimension, on a different plane, in a mirror universe, or just in an alternate existence.
These are giving me lots of feels and thoughts. I donāt think Iām going to start identifying as altegender, but I do think there is something jiggling in my brain around it that I may write about at some point. Kind of reblogging for future personal reference.
I can see this being helpful for people who disassociate? or something. Either way re-blogging for followers ā¤
While I am all for gender expression I have several issues with this.
1) alternate universes arenāt even a confirmed theory. It is speculated by scientist but it is in no way confirmed nor are we close to confirming its theory.
2) chances are if there are alternate existences, we all have a separate gender of ourselves out there so in theory this would include quite literally everyone. The multiverse theory dictates that there are an infinite number of alternate and parallel universes that consist of minor to extreme changes in details. This includes gender.
3) even if the multiverse theory were true, just because there is one out there with an identical replica of you out there with the only difference being their gender, this would not effect you directly. You would still be the gender you are, that alternate you would have the detail variation.
Maybe Iām missunderstanding this but from what it looks like these new terms are explaining exactly this. If Iām missunderstanding it then please explain it to me so that I can understand it, but as of now those are my feelings on this.
Yea these are literally just about how a gender feels, not saying you literally have a gender from another dimension. Its a way of expressing gender perception because of mental illness or just a fuzzy/distant relation to it
also tbh I really donāt care about your feelings on this as its not your gender, itās mine.
call out post for the mogais: alternate universes aren’t even a confirmed theory
We normally decide how to pronounce an unfamiliar word by drawing analogies with English words we already know. For example, we knew how to pronounce ā-lyā from words like āslowly,ā so it isnāt too hard to figure out how to pronounce ābigly.ā
But sometimes this approach runs into problems. In this case, there just arenāt any common English words ending in -efe. A wild-card search on the very comprehensive dictionary aggregator OneLook yielded the following list of words: jefe, fefe, efe, hefe, okeefe, hogrefe, keefe, reprefe, tefe and kefe. Pretty obscurefe.
So we have to search further afield. Maybe we go for the Spanish word ājefe,ā meaning āboss.ā Maybe we look to a different vowel, as in āfifeā or ācafe.ā Maybe we look to other spellings of the /f/ sound at the end of a word, like āffā as in āfluff,ā āgaffeā and ācoiffe.ā
The problem is that none of these is a close analogue, making it unsurprising that several Twitter polls have found that people are strongly split. But it looks like the lack of -fefe endings wonāt remain true for long. People have started smashing covfefe together with other words to refer to the covfefe meme. There now exists the āthreadfefeā (a thread about covfefe), an āexorfefeā (an exorcist of the word covfefe), a āpresifefeā (president) and the slogan āIf u think youāre above covfefe youāre part of the probfefe.ā
