Transphobia is a class issue. By this I mean that in a class society that is also deeply transphobic, it is impossible to talk about transphobia in a meaningful way without also talking about class. Trans people are more likely, all other things being equal, than our cis peers to fall into the most exploited and oppressed sections of the working class and the extent to which transphobia will negatively affect any given trans person’s life will be mediated by their economic class. This article is not intended to be a comprehensive analysis of every aspect of this issue, but to contribute to an ongoing conversation around it and illustrate a class struggle perspective on transgender issues.
I know everyone realizes that disney amvs are a gold mine but as someone who has been collecting them for years I am telling you right now: the ones that blow up on tumblr are only the absolute tip of the iceberg.

“It makes sense! Haven’t you heard of the Green Army? They’re trying to save the environment! The only natural response as a conservative is to you military force to make sure they don’t succeed!” Tony slammed his fist down on the table.
“But Tony… The Green Army isn’t actually an army… and also it’s a government initiative… we’re in charge of that” replied a senior government official. “…and also that’d be illegal…”
“To hell with the law! I want those greeny tree hugging bastards shot and our natural resources mined and our planet’s atmosphere also shot to hell with greenhouse gasses – which I also want you to shoot as account of them having the word “green” in them!” Tony flung his hands up in a fit of rage and suddenly noticed a tree branch swinging just outside the window. The green leaves infuriated him and in a swift lunge his jumped out of the first story window and started attacking the trees with his fist.
“Do as I command thee!”
The rest of the party room leaned in close to each other.
“He realises he’s not Prime Minister anymore right? Did… did no one remember to tell him that 2 years ago or…?” one person asked. Everyone looked around at each other and shrugged.
When Twitter comes through. (Read the original story here.)
This guy is the worst.
When was the last time a conservative took responsibility for their actions? I don’t think it’s ever happened.
You’re a huge liability to your company if you think women are biologically inferior. You can’t effectively work with women in any way if you think they’re inferior, whether these women are coworkers, supervisors, or clients. This isn’t about free speech or political speech. I mean, sexism isn’t a political opinion; it’s a huge flaw in your personality.
Under the new rules, homes that are not occupied for at least six months of the year are subject to a tax of one per cent of the property’s assessed value. The deadline to rent out empty dwellings was July 1.
Fazli said many of the people he has talked to are thinking of renting or selling their properties. He recently met with a woman who owns three empty properties in Vancouver — and says one of them is now listed for rent, another will be listed shortly and she is thinking of selling the third.
“This is a scenario of someone who is kind of in a panic now and needs to rent them out,” he said. […]
amazing
Why were they empty?
they’re meant to be investment properties, bought, left empty, and then sold a year or few later for huge profit as housing values continue to rise. it’s a massive part of the bc housing bubble, and why despite so much new construction it’s still so difficult to find rental housing
the fact that these landlords are panicking because they might have to actually use their housing properties as housing rather than finance capital is deeply funny
Yes, inequality is getting worse every year. In early 2016 Oxfam reported that just 62 individuals had the same wealth as the bottom half of humanity. About a year later Oxfam reported that just 8 men had the same wealth as the world’s bottom half. Based on the same methodology and data sources used by Oxfam, that number is now down to 6.
…………
It’s not just the bottom half: A 500-seat auditorium could hold as much wealth as 70% of the world’s population. According to the Forbes Billionaire List, the world’s richest 500 individuals have $4.73 trillion in wealth. Tables 2-4 and 3-4 of the GWD reveal that the poorest seven deciles of the world population own just 1.86% of the $256 trillion in global wealth, or $4.76 trillion. That’s over two-thirds of all the people on earth.
If you redistribute the wealth of the richest 6 men on Earth, you could double the wealth of about 3.7 Billion of the worlds poorest people. If you redistribute the wealth of just the 500 richest people, you could double the wealth of about 5 Billion people. There’s not a shortage of assets, there’s an appropriation of assets by the bourgeoisie. The question of where communists would get the resources for social programs we propose is not a hard one to answer when you start looking at where the wealth is right now. Take that 98% of the global wealth owned by the richest 30% of the population and use it to provide a good living to everyone.
