What a beautiful gift it is to be trans and/or nonbinary! God invites all of us to be co-creators. None of us come forth from the womb fully formed – we are all called to grow, to transform, to become. Those of us who are trans/nonbinary get to do that in a unique way.

this is so beautiful. And as a transgender man who is still part of the church, if not as actively as my family, I have struggled to find a way to express these exact thoughts in words.

I hope that someday I can have the courage to tell it to my family as well, that the reason I am walking this path is because I believe it is part of what God wants and intends for me in my growth as a human, and not because I think he made a mistake.

People acting like the Met Gala was “cultural appropriation”  as if art and religion, specifically western art and Christianity, haven’t been intrinsically linked since the religion began…

You also can’t appropriate a dominant culture. If this had been Hinduism, it’d have been fucked up and cultural appropriation. But let’s stop pretending Christianity as a whole and Catholicism more specifically haven’t been pushed on people around the globe or a driving force behind colonialism.

If you find yourself wanting to refer to something as Judeo-Christian, that is almost never the correct word for what you want to say.

Sometimes the right word is Abrahamic which is a shorter way of saying Judeo-Christian-Islamic*.

But the vast, vast, VAST majority of the time, the word you’re looking for is:

Christian.

(Today’s rant brought to you by seeing a post that referred to Hell as the Judeo-Christian underworld. Fucking no.)
