Want to stop trans murders?
Stop shaming men who like us, stop calling them gay when they’re not, stop watching dudes play us on screen.
Yes, it’s actually a deeply complicated and nearly intractable set of issues at the dangerous intersection of race, class, homophobia, misogyny, and economics, but the thing that most people can DO, right now, no matter who or where they are, is really that simple: stop shaming the men who like us, stop letting us be portrayed by men.
After years of thinking on this issue, listening to survivors of assault, reading the reports, talking to countless trans women/sex workers, that’s the heart of this. Straight men kill trans women partners because other people, and culture as a whole, says it’s gay, less masculine, to be with us.
So shut it down. Shut down every person or conversation that claims trans women are “really” men, every media depiction with men playing us.
If y’all have other ideas, I’d love to hear them. I’ve seen endless “stop trans murders” posts but no suggestions as to how, or any accountability.

like… it is gay, actually, for a male to be sexually interested in another male. but that’s ok… no one deserves to die for it. the answer isn’t to force everyone to deny reality and insist that it’s not gay. men should.. not be doing these “no homo” killings to begin with……………

a trans woman was beaten to death in public in broad daylight in australia this week. not to mention those of us who just go missing and don’t get news reports. not to mention those of us who are murdered and their family hides they were a trans woman in life from news sources to avoid the shame. straight men kill their trsns partners because it’s been so amazingly normalised in mainstream media. so what’s your suggestion if it’s not telling society as a whole to respect us?
and since I’ve heard from terfs that trans deaths don’t even compare to the number of women killed by their partners, why the fuck don’t you think this matters? why the fuck do you say you’re against domestic violence if you’re not willing to admit that this has been normalised for decades against trans women?
