the weird part about technology in trek is that some stuff is super advanced/completely fictional, some stuff was advanced for the time but would be seen as commonplace or even outdated now, and some stuff just, doesnt exist, usually because it either wasnt around or wasnt popular when the show was made

like reading things on tablets are totally normal now, so it isnt until they have to walk over their reports, or have a huge stack for a couple of books, that im like “oh yeah…this is suppose to be all futuristic”
