So there are TERFs and SWERFs out there now who are claiming

Stormé DeLarverie as ‘their’ Stonewall heritage because she identified as a butch lesbian and to those TERFs and SWERFs I just want to say: FUCK YOU.

Stormé DeLarverie was an african american gender nonconforming butch lesian and a hero and she was no fucking TERF or SWERF.

Stormé was a regular at the Stonewall where the majority of the visitors were trans, the majority was people of color and the majority was involved in some kind of sex work. This was the community she was part of, these were many of her friends, these were the people she protected. After Stonewall she continues to work at and frequent bars that put up drag shows and provided safe spaces for transgender people. As a gender nonconforming person she stood in solidarity with transgender people and queer sex workers and frequently risked her life for them.

It is typical that TERFs and SWERFs are trying to do this 3 years after her death because if you all did this while she was alive she would have told you to fuck off before she could get her baseball bat. How dare you shit on everything she stood for.

Fuck you for trying to tarnish her memory with your hate.

You disgust me.

Honestly the “discourse” is becoming worse and worse and so many people don’t seem to care about the damage they’re doing to so many aces and aros.

I’m starting to think there’s zero point in engaging. I can scream from the rooftops all day about how this thing being said adds to that form of oppression I experience, no one one’s gonna care, because casualties are perfectly acceptable for the sake of not just labeling  “the right” aces/aros straight, but also mocking us as a community and trivializing the problems we face. No criticism we might make regarding “the discourse” is valid, we have nothing of worth to say, our feelings don’t matter and even the oppression we face for certain is only relevant when it can be used to explain to us how we’re misinterpreting our own experiences, how it’s just the misogyny or racism or whatever else at work and don’t we know instances of marginalization typically exist in isolation from others or they don’t matter. (Don’t we know even the racism or misogyny we might experience doesn’t matter unless things are bad enough our most significant worry by far is being killed.)

“The discourse” is not how the ace/aro community will solve the problems it has. “The discourse” instead causes new ones and exacerbates a variety of old ones. To many of us, it’s the opposite of helpful, and I have no interest in becoming an acceptable sacrifice for someone else’s supposed greater good.

I’m no longer interested in having a conversation, because when I tried, in 95% of cases, it has been a waste of time and worse

Yeah well the ace community is ignoring the damage anti-ace discoursers are causing by making fun of aids, forcibly trying to change the definition of LGBT+’s oppression into “cisheterosexism”, denying homophobia, denying their own homophobic, lesbophobic, biphobic, transphobic acts, talking over LGBT+ individuals about issues that affect those individuals, and a huge number of other things.’

And literally almost all of us are LGBT+ aces.

Then you can continue making your own posts about that and stay off mine, because this is addressing literally nothing of what I said, unless you count trying to explain to me how hurting me is somehow justified, which is exactly the kind of thing my original post was about (as opposed to “the ace community can do no wrong and there aren’t people in it who’ve fucked up big time”).

i legitimately can’t think of a different explanation for LGBT+ oppression than cisheterosexism though. You’ve got to explain how that can possibly be ‘aces rerwiting history’ or whatever you’re claiming, because, it’s literally the only definition of LGBT+ and queer i’ve ever heard

can y’all fellow tme trans folks Quit acting like transmascs and tme nbs are Incapable of being terfs and being compared to terfs is thus an act of Terrible Transphobia like newsflash asshole there’s tons of nb and trans guy terfs. terfs will take you if you’re afab and willing to beat down your trans sisters. if you use terf rhetoric you can bet your ass you’re gonna get called out on using terf rhetoric. you can’t use your transness as a shield when there’s dozens of trans guy and nb terfs that are eager to sacrifice their gender for radfem approval. y’all are boring and think you’re incapable of falling prey to terf rhetoric just because you’re trans. you’re not. next.

I’ve seen nb truscum who say their own gender is “just a mental illness and not real.”

Literally nothing about your identity hinders you from being a bigot. If the form of bigotry you’re being accused of is particularly targeted towards a group you’re exempt from (trans women,) you’ve ESPECIALLY got no place denying it, even if you’re part of a broader group that gets generally targeted (trans/nb people.) You have privilege over trans women if you’re not one, and if you get called out for endangering them or supporting their aggressor’s, its not your damn place to discredit those accusations on the basis of your identity. Bull fucking shit.

ugh it may have been 5 fucking years ago but i remember reading a great critique of the phrase “coherent class” and how it’s only ever heard on leftist tumblr and doesn’t have a defined meaning. as in, it hasn’t been used in peer reviewed literature because no one actually knows what it means. if anyone can find me this ancient post or any published articles that critique the phrase that would be amazing because i’ve been searching around i’ve got nothing.

like really i can’t actually find a definition of a Coherent Class fucking anywhere

if u cant draw brown people without being racist ur banned from art

and chances are ur art was shit from the get go

This is honestly the most annoying thing ever. If you can only draw white people, you’re not a good artist. Period.
If you’re gonna make a career or a following out of making fan art, you better fkn know/learn how to draw and color poc correctly.
“It’s just my style” isn’t an excuse.
“It’s just the lighting” is not a viable excuse. No source of natural lighting is going to make a dark skinned character pale.
Just stop making art if you’re going to be racist and unwilling to be a good person in general.

Okay unpopular opinion time.

As somebody who knows a blind-from-birth person, it’s kinda pissing me off that people are acting like the Doctor going blind is tragic. It might suck for him for awhile because he’s not used to living that way, but ffs if he’s taught how to do things the blind way as opposed to the sighted way and borrowed other people to be his eyes when vision is necessary then not much would have to change.

If the Doctor can memorize a map in a few seconds, I doubt it’d take him long to learn just about every form of Braille or raised reading material for blind people all over the universe.

Imagine if the TARDIS made him a sonic white cane that could do all the cool stuff his sonic screwdriver could do and more. Imagine it having a “homing” signal where the cane will gently tug him back to the TARDIS if there’s danger or if he gets ‘lost’ on an adventure. (And imagine him having to resist it and be all “be quiet, you!”)

Disability doesn’t have to be tragic, y’all.

–posted by an autistic person who headcanons the Doctor as autistic.

He’s already doing this, too. He flew the TARDIS to the stationworkers’ corporate office and then home to Earth without anyone (including any viewer who hadn’t been spoiled) realizing he was still sightless.

hi tacking onto this as a real life blind person and not just “i know a guy”–op i do appreciate where ur coming from, but also, like, chill–it’s actually gonna be disgustingly easy for dr.who to get used to being blind, because gallifreyans’ primary sense is telepathy; hell, they’re already prosopagnosic (link: x, x). dr.who is and was able to navigate the Tardis in part for the same reason why i dont use my cane in my apartment, but also in part because the Tardis, as a gallifreyan technology, is really fucking highkey telepathic and is/was thus more easily navigable than something designed by a generally psinull, generally sighted species, like, yknow, humans.

of course the problem that we’re probably going to run into is that the writers are either gonna get stuck on “this is terrible and horrible and awful and 12 will never be able to function” and it’ll be a super ableist pity party that’ll probably feed into some self-hatred of actual blind people… (link: x) or theyre gonna overuse gallifreyan telepathy so they can have a blind character, but not, like, a blind character who needs help with things
occassionally, or who needs to use assistive tech, or in any way can’t pass for sighted.

or both! there’s always both.

but like, listen, this is a fantastic opportunity for dr.who to be able to raise awareness of some things that actual, real life blind people do – things like the sonic white cane you mentioned already kind of partially exist (link: x), and oh man that’d be killer. i’d have comicon down this year let me fucking tell you. they could show dr.who working with the Tardis on the equivalent of JAWS or VoiceOver. they could also, though, pull a daredevil, and oh my god i am sick to death of daredevil. real people in real life have asked me if i can read a computer screen by touching it and feeling the heat of the pixels. that’s daredevil’s fault.

anyway the long and short of it is basically “dr.who could be really cool with this, but probably only if i was the one writing it, and im not, so it’s gonna be an ableist disaster”. regardless of how the show decides to take this, though,

@fandom be fucking respectful. going blind is not the end of the world. it doesn’t make you incapable. it definitely doesn’t make humans incapable but-oh-not-dr.who-theyre-fine.

and also, here’s a concept, put fucking image descriptions on your gifsets and fanart.

Friendly reminder that The Doctor needs you to put image descriptions on your gifsets and fanart.  #DoItForTheDoctor

oh my fucking god dont do it for the doctor do it for real blind/vi people why the fuck is accessibility only important when it effects a fictional character i hate y’all
