If you like labels that’s great. If you don’t like labels that is also great. If you refuse to respect someone else’s personal choices about their labels, that is fucked up.

While normally I would agree, one of the people in this straight couple is a trans woman. When is the last bit of slightly big time media you’ve seen that emphasized the “power of love” in a trans person’s romantic relationship like this, and made it one of the most important relationships in a thing? Someone correct me if I’m mistaken, but isn’t romances involving trans people just as “progressive” as gay romance? ….Actually I can’t think of anything else that has this many fans where a character involved in any romance, let alone one of the most front line ones, where one of the people is trans….

The past few days i’ve been thinking a bit about far right and fascist trans girls, due to some twitter threads where i’ve seen them pop up.
The thing is about fascist trans girls or other gay/lesbian peeps of that type is that they fundamentally believe the REAL champions for their rights are facists. That left wing trans politics are detrimental to the normalisation of transgender people.
But in other words, they really only bought into their posturing and willingly surrendered their identites to have them weaponised by abusers who convinced them they’re fighting the good fight, while admonishing the very existance of identity politics as purely a lefist thing, despite their entire place within right wing circles being nothing but identity politics.
It bothers me to my core, not because i think all trans girls should be on the same page. But because we know what fascists are like
These people don’t have an iota of respect for trans people. You wanna talk about how SJ spaces are often performative, they ain’t got SHIT on fascists. Their entire online presence is a performance. Their very ideology calls for it.
Bluster, lies, abuse, gaslighting. All the stops that makes fascism work. Their respect for LGBTQ+ rights is just that. Performance. Gaslighting. And abuse. If you don’t straddle the line perfectly, your identity suddenly doesn’t deserve that respect they oh so graciously claim to afford you. Once you say the wrong thing, they get to see first hand how deep their respect for them is. It’s not even knee deep.
They’ll nod and agree that they support your right but still go on and say you’re a harmful influence on the fabric of western society. When you actually see how facists treat trans women, they treat them purely as objects. They’re either fetishised fuckdolls, meat shields, or weapons.
The smart ones hide this under a thin veneer of appropriated social justice terms.
I feel like some of these fascist trans women willingly but often unwittilngy give up their identity away to act as buffers, cudgels and walls for people who want to use them to get a leg up on modern socio-political discourse. They’re weapons, nothing more.They convince them they’re the ones really fighting for their safety, their identity, that they’re the true force of normalisation. They give up their identites for weaponisation without even knowing they’re just tools, while holding their head up high as if they’re somehow above identity politics.
In order to be a fascist trans girl, you have to forego absolutely every single bit of respect you have for your own identity. Or if not yours, the identity of others as it is ultimatley easier to sacrifice other trans women if you get to have your place as ‘one of the good ones’.
It just disturbs me to my core that it seems like more and more of them are shifting away into a camp that on any other day, would organise campaigns to force them to commit suicide.
I think at it’s core, the reason for this is a drive for survival. A friend of mine wisely pointed this out on twitter, it was something that i always felt was the most likely truth of the matter.
They think if they just fit in, assimilate within a destructive culture, they’ll be off scott-free. Better to be by the Devil’s side, than in his path. It’s self preservation.
