transmed voice: I have never once considered psychology as a discipline to be anything but completely Objective. If something is listed as a mental illness, then it is! I’ve never heard of the word “pathologisation” in my life and I don’t have enough historical knowledge to understand how science and academia can be tools against marginalised people. I’ve never heard about how women masturbating and black people wanting to escape slavery have also been classified as mental illnesses, or i’m naive enough to think that the systems that once enabled this have changed or dissapeared.
i also just hate trans people who scrape enough self-esteem together to not hate their body, and will fight against trans positivity at every turn 🙂 This is what I Objectively think as a Fellow Trans, and i’m going to avoid thinking about how every thing i say benefits TERFs and other people who will send me to conversion camp the second they get the chance 🙂

actually. truscum, there’s already a cure. it’s conversion therapy. stop pretending cis people will ever care enough about our dysphoria to make a magical anti-dysphoria injection or whatever you imagine the Cure is going to look like. torturing us to get us to stop transitioning is always going to be less effort for them. just get it through your heads that there will be no cure other than electric shocks and psychological reprogramming
“psychiatry wouldn’t do that to us” they already do it to autistic kids to get rid of autism symptoms. after decades of looking for an autism cure it’s still only electroshock therapy and aborting autistic kids before birth. promises of autism cures have led to actual deaths. more times than i like to think about, when a parent is promised a cure for long enough and realise there isn’t one, the next ‘cure’ they try is murdering their child.
that’s why acceptance is the only way to go. acceptance will get less of us tortured and killed, no matter which group we’re talking about. stop giving cis people the idea that it’s okay to “fix” us because it will never be a good option for us, especially the children that can’t fight back.
[here are some blacklist keywords in case anyone doesn’t tag this right: conversion therapy, torture, eugenics, child abuse, electroshock therapy, trans deaths, autistic deaths, disabled deaths, trans murders, autistic murders, disabled murders, death of trans people, death of autistic people, death of disabled people, ableism, transphobia, truscum discourse. tell me if i missed any possible trigger because This Is Not a Fun Post]
Like, that’s one of the most insidious things cis people have done to us, create this idea that we suffer because we are trans and not because of how we are treated for being trans.
I mean, it constituted a huge “discovery” in the psych world when research showed that rampant depression and increased risk of suicide in trans people was tied to how badly we are isolated and alienated, and that conclusion would likely never have been reached without transness first being slowly de-pathologized, and thus not treated as just being something that is conveniently co-morbid with debilitating mental illness.
Cis people are deeply invested in any narrative that removes their involvement in our suffering and thus places the onus of change on us, demanding we subject ourselves to a psychiatric community that first attempts to obliterate our transness before it even considers helping facilitate it.
This misdirection of responsibility needs to be called out for what it is, an act of violence against trans people at the hands of cis people, and whether its through media, or medical discourse, or casual cissexism, it needs to fucking stop, and y’all cis folk need to hold yourselves accountable for how you perpetuate it.
Holy fuck

Yeah and black cats are bad luck and witches were hung. Times have changed with scientific evidence.
thanks but i’ve already got “i’m naive enough to think that the systems that enabled this have changed or dissapeared”

“mogai tumblr made it hard to figure out my gender/sexuality when first coming out”
consider: You don’t have to have a vendetta against queers with the “weird” genders and sexualities, especially teenagers, because you used to consider yourself one of them
also consider: the answer to “my identity was hard to figure out” is not to make it harder for other people. erasing other people’s identities will not make your own more visible. MOGAI people actually quite often find it helpful to have words for their identities, like yourself, and everyone else in the world
also consider: your anger is misdirected. heteronormativity hurt you several billion times more than the split attraction model ever could. No one who IDs as frostgender has the social capital to gaslight and coerce children from birth into a gender. straight and cis people are 100% to blame for the shame we’re made to feel for our identities and placing blame on young queers achieves nothing but furthering that shame. there is no good political goal that can be achieved by bullying mogais you nasty fucks
I’m just frustrated because of how much these people set me back. Even now, I constantly doubt myself because “What if the only reason I feel this way is because I’m still confused?” Things would have been so much easier if I would have been properly taught the relations between gender and sex from the beginning instead of being fed the bullshit that this community fed me. Heteronormativity has not hurt me. This community has. I’m not trying to make it harder for anyone. In fact, I’m just trying to spread the truth so they don’t have to be so confused and frustrated for longer than they have to.
“Heteronormativity has not hurt me. This community has” thanks, anti-sjw and transmedicalist guy, count me enlightened. wait are you saying cishet culture has taught you better about sex and gender than ‘this community’ has?
Actually, no. It was a bunch of transgender people, believe it or not. Trans people who actually know what they’re talking about. But seriously. I didn’t even know the proper definition of transgender until I stepped out of the stupid bubble of that community and accepted facts. I’d suggest doing some research yourself :).
the definition of us being all mentally ill, thanks. Do you think, however, that definition serves people who dismiss us and want to fix the trans out of us, a lot more than it serves us, trans people? like i’m pretty cool where I am, and that’s not actively shooting myself in the foot, or letting cis people define me, thanks
