like i get the Joke or whatever but iβm here to be that annoying reminder that autism exists and all of you are complicit in ableism re: the babadookΒ
the movie isβ¦ prettyβ¦clearly about ableism? her son is autistic- thatβs why heβs bullied, thatβs why he has meltdowns and sensory issues and doesnβt pick up on social cues, thatβs why heβsΒ βannoyingβ, thatβs why her sister just Hates him- and sheβs your typical autism mom. she takes it all out on her son, she hates that she gave birth to a child that was fucked up and Wrong and lost her husband in the process, she doesnβt have enoughΒ βsupportβ, nobody understands, etc. heβs annoying and loud and complicated and she hates him the way some of you in the audience did.Β
the babadook is her hatred of him, her inability to accept his autism, etc. thatβs why she tries to kill him(the way so many autism moms do, the way autism speaks tries defend), thatβs why she tries to physically abuse it out of him, thatβs why she has toΒ βfeed the monsterβ every so often (the way autism momsβ’ have theirΒ βmom daysβ to complain about how much they canβt stand their kid, how sometimes they wish theyβd never been born, how they consider drowning them in kiddie pools bc itβd beΒ βkinderβ, the way that famous anti-vaxxers report having to go stand in rooms and throw shit at walls to avoid hitting their kid)
itβsβ¦really apparent to me as an autistic person and it is so many others, too? sam has to protect his mother from the babadook. heβs terrified of it (her)- the movie even makes clear that she was the one that wrote the book. she tries to kill both herself and sam (glass in the food). she becomes more and more unstable, aggressive, and violent, and samβs response as an autistic child is to mirror what he sees. his meltdowns increase, he has less support, he spends all his time latching on to the remnants of the only person he has.Β
like itβsβ¦idk, really uncomfortable for me to see all these allistic people first making fun of how annoying the (autistic) kid was, and misinterpreting the movie to a frankly astounding degree, and then the Joke is that straight people donβt get how heβs a ~gay icon~ (whichβ¦ many of the people in the first few posts from which the meme comes were autisticβ¦. )
idk. itβs really weird for me to see allistics carry on with this elaborate lgbt icon joke by laughing in the faces of people that donβt understand why, when half of us are autisticβ¦ being mocked for not understanding a movieβ¦about ableismβ¦by allistic people. the mind boggles.Β
i mean whatever its a joke gay babadook etc but yβall didnβt even get it the first time and youβre joyfully, self-assuredly ableist all the time so itβs really weird that this is just kind of drowning out all of the #actuallyautistic posts i was enjoying reading in the tag but i mean, allistics will be allistics, i guessΒ
P L E A S E stop with the babbadook is a gay icon stuff. Good alternatives: -Bigfoot -mothman -any cryptid cryptids are gay
Keep police and corporations out of pride 2kforever
Iβd rather have cops surround me, than some males who think theyβre lesbians and straight girls who read too much yaoi and now consider themselves to be gay men.
Did I mention that all terfs should be excluded from pride too lol
βiβd rather have cops who slaughter/abuse black and brown people at pride than trans women simply trying to live their livesβ lmao terfs are wild
Just because I donβt think mogai gender identities are valid OR healthy doesnβt mean i hate trans people, Karen
Wait what id miss and what do you define as mogai genders do you mean like nounself type stuff or??
I made a post that was like βthis pride month letβs destroy mogaiβ meaning microlabels like those on beyond-mogai-pride-flags and apparently that = hating trans people
How is saying that you want to destroy labels that only trans people use not hating trans people??
first of y’all yaintlgbtpn is a transphobe so jot that down
Tbh, I feel like inclusionists calling exclusionists terfs is directly meant to hurt trans and nb people
They have been told countless times that there is an overwhelming amount of trans and nb ppl on the exclusionist side yet they still call them terfs
They know what theyβre doing, they know that what theyβre saying is harmful they literally just donβt give a fuck about it
Inclusionists who compare exclusionists to terfs are awful, they will honestly say anything to hurt someone, like you canβt be so flippant when ur calling actual trans ppl terfs while youβre cis/cishet
nobody is saying exclusionists are terfs, weβre saying the rhetoric is the same verbatim
coming at u live from a nb person
I mean, if you get pissed b/c you think weβre calling you terfs when we say youβre using terf rhetoric, and you donβt immediatly evaluate the shit you say, welp.
If the shoe fits strut bih.
Wait, holy shit y’all op is cis. I knew this shit sounded Cispicious.
The Cispicious Stamp of Approvalβ’.
Anyways yβall will never stop my trans ass from saying exclusionists and terfs are similar af and the Cisasterβ’ that is op can cry about it
someone on fb shared an article about this one girl raised by lesbian parents spent her childhood βyearning for a father figureβ.
“Millie found herself yearning for a parent who would do ‘dad things with their kids’, which she referred to as ‘sports things’ and ‘the whole barbeque thing’.β
bitch u got twice as many parents as i did and youβre deciding to be a shitty little homophobe because you missed out on fucking barbequing lessons
she says ‘I think a lot of parents in the same-sex community, one of them will try to masculinize themselves a little bit to make up for the lack of a father role,’ is she, is she really pissed off she ended up with two femme mums. does she feel unloved that neither one butched up for her as a kid. what are straight people. i hate this
