Japanโ€™s complete lack of understanding of declining birth rates in relation to its work culture reminds me a lot of how America has an assumption that millennials are killing industries when the truth is they are more frugal because of a lack of funds.

Both come from a conservative mindset that neglects the impact that a toxic work culture can have on society.

A 80+ hour work week in order to maintain financial stability isnโ€™t exactly a solid ground to date people and eventually build a family from a healthy relationship.

A workforce comprised of 20 somethings that make between 20-40k a year in entry positions isnโ€™t a good ground to build a reliable consumer base when a huge chunk of that is going to rent, utilities, car payments, and student loans.

Iโ€™m going to save up for a new motorcycle by running a scam where I bet straight dudes at bars twenty bucks that I can get a girlโ€™s number in under five minutes and then politely walk up her and say, โ€œI just bet that asshole twenty bucks that I could get your number. Iโ€™ll split it with you if you pretend to laugh like I just said a good pick up line and then write a fake number on my hand.โ€

Like, I never understood those kind of bets in those shitty teen movies. Everybody loves being part of a scheme, man. Use your head.

If anyone ever does this to me Iโ€™ll call them out on being a con artist.

Jokeโ€™s on you, buddy. Thatโ€™ll only have consequences the first, what, couple dozen times? I can take a punch.

But then eventually, Iโ€™ll have money for the bike, and whenever I get called out, Iโ€™ll just speed off, and, sure, maybe I crash and die in a gutter and the police canโ€™t figure out why I have hundreds of fake phone numbers stuffed in my jacket and it launches a huge investigation that becomes sort of a local legend, but you know whose problem that is? Not fucking mine.

Because Iโ€™m a slutty motorcycle ghost, and whoโ€™s gonnaโ€™ stop me then? The ghost cops? Nice try. Everybody knows cops canโ€™t become ghosts because they just go straight to hell. Itโ€™s basic math.
