it shouldn’t surprise people that respecting a cat’s boundaries (i.e. ceasing to pet them after they paw at you) helps them trust you more
Bathbomb was dropped off at my apartment very abused and scared he hid in the bathtub for an entire 24hrs. he barely/if ever ate for about a week and didnt begin exploring the apartment until 3 weeks in
it was a month before he came up to me and it was hard but i sat kinda near him every day i would treat him like he was a new cat and let him smell me before trying to pet him and if he even looked uncomfortable id gently stop and just sing or talk to him
now he climbs on my back and jumps on my shoulder if i dont pay attention to him so it takes work and time
cats are like ppl and have triggers and quirks and trauma and we have to be respectful and gentle its not that hard of a concept
this is an Important Post but my favorite part is that your cat’s name is Bathbomb
i’m seeing posts saying that umbrella terms like queer and mogai are bad because they harm trans women, in ways such as it’s lumping us in with our oppressors, and assuming shared identity where there is none.
which is cool and all but each one of these posts champion LGBT as the less problematic alternative, completely unironically. even going so far as bringing up the myth that we’re “an historic coalition of SGA and trans people”, which i’m not going to get into what a rewrite of history that is today
it’s like the cis lgbp folk finally got around to listening to all the reasons we don’t like LGBT, only to recycle our words to justify ripping queer out of our mouths.
Saying “Gender is fake so how are people trans?” is like saying “Money is fake so how are people poor?” Like as much as we facetiously say gender is fake, “social construct” is not synonymous with “fake”
98% of gender is controlled by the top 1%

why are wlw books so angsty and deep all the time like where is my casual wlw romcom or my fantasy lesbians, space bis and trans princesses like not every wlw has some lost love in some town in the middle of nowhere
I live for posts like this, because there are soooo many good f/f books out there that don’t get the attention they deserve because of the way wlw are marginalized. So!

Good Enough to Eat – super cute lesbian vampire rom-com
Promises, Promises – parody of LotR/D&D starring three lesbians on a quest for magical stuff
Everything Leads to You – Hollywood f/f YA about a young set designer who falls for a girl she meets under mysterious circumstances
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet – ensemble-cast “crew of a spaceship” story. Mostly just random adventures, includes a f/f couple who survive the book.
Roller Girl – contemporary f/f romance about trans woman who joins a roller derby team
Not fluffy, but the angst is SFF-stress rather than “living under homophobia/biphobia” stress:
Ascension – queer disabled ladies fighting Big Pharma in space–you wanted space bi’s, come get your space bi’s (actually, if you want more space bi’s also check out the anthology Fierce Family.)
Chameleon Moon – review is of an earlier edition and I hear the new one has even more great representation. Trans woman superhero with two female partners living in a dystopian city that’s on lockdown from the government after everyone develops mutant powers in response to a wonderdrug.
Not Your Sidekick – in the future, what happens when your parents are superheroes but you never developed powers? You intern for the baddie, of course! MC is bi and ends up in a f/f relationship, and the sequel will star her trans bestie.

The Wind City by Summer Wigmore – Urban fantasy drawing on Maori mythology. Protagonist describes herself as “at least 60% gay” and falls in love with a monster girl.

You can’t say your blog is “a safe space for all wlw” if you reblog posts that make a spec wlw uncomfortable.
Don’t say “a spec wlw included” or “all wlw are welcome here” if you:
• reblog aphobic content (both explicit and implicit)
• reblog from aphobes
• refuse to acknowledge a post is aphobic even if an a spec wlw tells you it’s making them uncomfortable
• don’t support a part of our identity
As a neurodivergent ace wlw, I deserve to know if your space is really safe for me, or if it’s dangerous for my mental health.
If it’s not safe for me I just need to know, so I won’t follow you.
I am a lesbian, I am ace, I am neurodivergent: the wlw part of my identity doesn’t erase my sexual orientation and seeing aphobic content in “wlw safe spaces” triggers my anxiety.
Menstrual blood isn’t disgusting. It’s a natural and beautiful life-giving substance and you wouldn’t be here without it. The only reason it’s “disgusting” to men is because it’s a sign that a woman’s body isn’t being used to pop out babies.
Good to know… I definitely thought it was because I dislike being exposed to the abandoned bodily fluids of strangers. I guess next time I’m cleaning up biohazards from public restrooms, I’ll just remind myself that the only reason I’m grossed out is because I secretly wish that all women were just constantly pregnant.
