nonblack lesbians arent studs

Look at this. Read it. Then read it again.

Ok actually Iโ€™mma add something, as there are people confused in the tags about what this means.ย โ€œStudโ€ (in the context of lesbianism) is a black identity identity akin to what butch would be considered. Itโ€™s a unique role and identity that originated from black lesbian communities (same as AG/aggressive(s) girls/stem/boi). There has been a problem with white lesbians in particular putting themselves in the stud tag and plastering their faces all other spaces/media made for STUDS (a specific group of GNC black lesbians). Itโ€™s really annoying and tiring because most of these white self pro claimedย โ€œstudsโ€ end up emulating masculine coded behaviour that is found in black (Specifically African American) culture, which literally makes yโ€™all look like fools. Black identities and cultural mannerisms are not for your consumption or appropriation.

hello i just want to say that i understand the thought process behind โ€œwlw cant fetishize womenโ€ and i understand where this comes from but also its still relevant to the conversation to talk about how white wlw sexualize woc. i saw a post claiming that bringing this up is derailing and that โ€œppl know what we meanโ€ but i really dont think it is!

white wlw need to be aware of how they view woc. they need to be conscious of this sexualization. conscious of how they speak about our bodies. conscious of how they touch us. conscious of their expectations on our sexuality and wants and desires. white women have a long history of violence! yall contribute to our fetishization and abuse!! its relevant to the conversation and it may be uncomfortable to acknowledge but it needs to be said and heard.

a woman viewing another woman sexually is not inherently dehumanizing, but you still need to take into consideration the way race plays into it.

Anyway in case anyone forgot unfollow me if you think lesbians have privilege over bi women and also unfollow me if you think bi women have privilege over lesbians.

The lack of discourse on this post is so beautiful I love you all so much shout out to wlw for being amazing and lovely and supportive, letโ€™s never forget to be here for our sisters even those that may not be exactly like us because the most beautiful thing about our community is that it is made up of so many people with unique identities and experiences, namely the experiences of trans women in our community, women of color in our community, disabled women in our community, indigineous women in our community, autistic women in our community, and other women and nonbinary wlw with a wealth of other marginalized identities. We are a diverse and beautiful community with so much to offer each other and learn from each other and this wasnt supposed to turn into a sappy post but I love all of you so much and Iโ€™m so proud of all of you and also lets continue our dedication to each other in the way that we always have and expand upon in ways that we havent. Our community is so important and so is every single member in it!

I thought I recognized this art so i looked at opโ€™s blog

idk if y’all remember this homophobic mess of a comic. Granted people can change but opโ€™s more recent stuff reflects the same views.

hi! wow, you have a good memory, this was almost a year ago!

I think you might have misinterpreted the comic. the joke was how she, an ace person, could forget something as obvious and familiar to other people as sexual attraction! I thought her reaction was so funny I suggested making a daily comic about it.

Lyd is my girlfriend! Weโ€™re in love! Passionate lesbian love. For four years now! Since that comic we moved in together and weโ€™ve started building savings for our life together! We talk online (Twitter, we donโ€™t really use tumblr) about struggles we face, homophobia, lesbian history and representation, and the intersection of being gay with being ace, not ace, gender conforming, and gender non-conforming. That comic youโ€™re saying is homophobic might look like it to someone without the context of our life, and maybe it did cause a sapphic woman to feel alienated due to her sexual attraction. I understand that because Iโ€™ve felt that way many times from the words of both lgbt and non-lgbt people alike. But it was an accident, and while that canโ€™t take away the damage, I promise that Lydโ€™s comics showing our happy life together, our posts online, even our youtube channel all do infinitely more good for fellow sapphic women and other lgbt people than this comic did bad. Lyd apologized for the misunderstandings and lack of clarity.

Please stop holding other lgbt people to an impossibly high standard. We have so many enemies in this world, the last thing we need is to be attacking each other for the smallest infractions.

Yo I am not gonna hold it against any of you who have reblogged it but I hate, hate the โ€œfeminist brain vs lesbian brainโ€ meme thatโ€™s going around because even though I know itโ€™s meant to be a funny joke, my fear that being a lesbian would make me a bad feminist because Iโ€™d be objectifying women by allowing myself to be attracted to them was literally what kept me in the closet & contributed to confusion and depression for years!!!!!!!

I had to work so hard to learn that lesbian attraction to women is not the same as male objectification of women!! That I wasnโ€™t predatory or anti-feminist for being sexually interested in women!!!!! That being sexually attracted to women can, in fact, be in line with my feminism!!!

And lest any TERFs think this post is an okay point of identification and validation, consider the following: 1) fuck you and 2) many trans lesbians and wlw experience this on much greater levels than I have as a cis lesbian and 3) trans lesbians and wlw are most definitely not anti-feminist or predatory for their attraction to women.

girl: iโ€™m not wearing any panties ๐Ÿ˜‰

lesbian: oh thats cool! underwear can feel uncomfortable at times. iโ€™m wearing pretty standard cotton underwear that i got from target. cotton underwear is the best because itโ€™ll keep things feeling fresh and cool down there. so anyways how was your day ๐Ÿ™‚
